A new study has shown that the amount of coffee you drink may be linked to the type of job you hold. Journalists, police officers and teachers top the list of the professions that consume the most coffee.
The study performed involved 10,000 people, according to Tech Times. Eighty-five percent of those involved in the study said that they drink three or more cups of coffee a day.

Seventy percent of those who drink coffee daily say that they need it to do their job well. Though many people enjoy coffee in the morning to start their day, participants said that the coffee that they drink daily is needed to perform their job.
'It seems that drinking coffee is a necessity on the job in a wide variety of professions. The highest consumers, sinking over four cups daily, were those with stressful careers: journalists consumed the most, followed closely by police officers and teachers. Could it be that being overstretched or working late pushed the workforce to consume more caffeine?' researchers wrote.
In a separate study, the University of South Carolina found that the maximum amount of caffeine that people should intake each day is up to 400 mg, according to Headlines and Global News. That amount of caffeine translates to about four cups (two mugs) of coffee.
Sixty-two percent of those participating in the study did not know that drinking too much coffee can have repercussions on their health.
Coffee is described as a mildly addictive stimulant. This means that people who drink coffee are likely to drink it until they reach the effect that they want.
Because it is a stimulant, it can increase blood pressure. If one has too many cups of coffee in a day, it can create major health problems, so it is important to monitor the amount of coffee you consume.
Researchers say that if professionals feel they need coffee to work, they should space caffeine out through the day.
There is a small difference (five percent) between men and women and coffee intake. Men tend to consume more coffee throughout the day, but not enough to be a deciding factor.
Keeping coffee consumption to only a couple of cups a day can eliminate the fear of health risks. In fact, moderately drinking coffee can help with other diseases, but it must be in moderation.
Other professions that drink a larger amount of coffee are nurses/medical staff, company executives, telesales, IT technical support, retail staff and drivers.
