Washington state health officials issue a warning on Sunday on people who have been in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport this month that they could have been exposed to measles after a passenger was tested positive of the virus.
The state's public health officials said the passenger was at the airport on September 6 during a period when the disease is contagious.
The passenger had been in the airport's north satellite terminal, the inter-terminal train, the baggage claim, and also had dined at a restaurant at the Courtyard Seattle Federal Way hotel.
Measles is a highly contagious disease and can easily be transmitted through sneezing, coughing or simply by breathing.
Officials said people who might have been exposed would likely become sick between Sept. 13 and 27. Symptoms such as high fever, rash, and cough would manifest from seven to 21 days after exposure.
Those who may have been exposed were advised to seek immediate medical attention. To prevent possibly spreading measles to others, they were likewise urged not to go to any medical facility without calling to request an evaluation.
