A recent study has discovered a new gene that can trigger obesity and that can also be the cause of hunger pangs. This gene is also responsible for affecting the individuals' capability of resisting the impulse to eat.
The study has been conducted by the scientists from the United States National Institutes of Health and it found the reason why some people have weight problems. At the same time, the researchers mentioned that the persons carrying that gene are prone of becoming obese.
Numerous studies have discovered that chronic obesity is connected with the FTO gene, but the latest study has shown exactly how the gene affects a person's weight. Thus, older and middle-aged individuals who have up to two copies of the gene are predisposed to eat more fatty and high-calorie foods.
At the same time, the study shown that people with the FTO gene were more impulsive when it came to controlling their cravings and as a result they couldn't help it to consume fatty foods.
