NEWPORT, Ore. (KOIN 6) - Lincoln County health officials will hold a 10 a.m. press conference related to the E. coli death of a 4-year-old girl.
Serena Profitt died Monday at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. The family lives in Otis, Oregon, about a mile outside Lincoln City. They visited with their friends, the Sutton family, over Labor Day.
Brad Sutton, 5, is in critical condition with kidney failure, though KOIN 6 News was told he is steadily improving.
Both Serena and Brad tested positive for E. coli.
In a release, Lincoln County officials said the Oregon State Public Health Lab identified the E. coli strain as 0157.
The CDC defines E.coli strain 0157 as infections linked to food.
