According to the new study, having two or more than two servings of fish every week could delay hearing loss.
To conduct this study, the data of 65,215 women were gathered from the year 1991 to the year 2009. The females self-reported their diet and also gave details about the medical conditions including hearing loss.
It was found that no matter which type of fish they ate, increase consumption was associated with less hearing loss.
According to the lead author of the study, Dr. Sharon Curhan, the hearing loss risks decline as higher fish consumption provides increase amount of the long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids to the body. These fatty acids play role in improving blood circulation to the area having cochlea and thus it improves the function of inner ear.
This study reported 20 percent decline in the women having fish for two or more times in a week.
The study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
