Sen. Chuck Schumer is worried that the World Cup will really go viral.
The New York Democrat said Sunday he feared the Chikungunya virus, which is carried by mosquitoes, could spread as soccer fans return from Brazil to their home countries.
Schumer urged the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue an immediate health alert.
The virus is rarely fatal but causes severe fevers, arthritic-like joint pain and rashes.
