Scientists have devised a helmet that spots a stroke and improves the diagnosis and treatment to increase the recovery options.
This helmet gives off microwaves which tell about the clot or bleed deep inside the brain.
It has already been tested in 45 patients. Its creators are planning to provide this helmet to the ambulance crew.
In a stroke, immediate actions are necessary to limit brain damage.
If more than four hours are required to get to the hospital, many brain cells already start to die. It is also highly necessary for the treatment to know whether stroke is occurred because of bleeding or a clot.
As CT scan provides good information of the brain damage, but arranging one spontaneously is not possible. Researchers in Sweden made this mobile device that emits same signals that are produced by microwave ovens but these signals are weaker and tells about the brain functioning.
The device is capable of distinguishing between clot and bleed but it didn't show 100% results every time. Still other diagnostic tools are needed for confirmation.
