Georgia woman recovering after 27-pound cyst removed. The cyst was unbelievably big and she was in real danger.
When the woman came to the doctors at Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta little did she know that she was carrying a massive tumor inside her abdomen. The woman who belonged to Georgia was in severe pain and didn't know what to do.
The tumor had lots of fluid inside it and doctors who treated and eventually removed the cyst from the woman's body first took out the fluid from inside the cyst.
The woman Dora Lewis who lived in Atlanta made a call to 911 when she felt immense pain and breathlessness and was taken to Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta by emergency workers.
The size of the cyst actually amazed the doctors who later treated her. Doctors said the huge cyst became so big after growing into her belly for several years and it had attached itself to Lewis' her stomach wall, pushing her vital organs up and to the left. This unsettling of her vital organs caused her severe heart pain and nausea.
Dr. Alan Gordon who performed the surgery and took out the cyst from her stomach says, 'This thing was going to continue to grow...The good news for her was that even though it had grown a significant size, it had been doing this slowly'.
