The American Cancer Society is hosting the 13th Annual 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' Walk on Sunday, October 27th, at Holmes Lake Park in Lincoln.
The program and registration begin at 12 noon, and the walk will start at 1:00 p.m. Numerous activities and presentations will be held before and after the walk. 10/11 is a proud sponsor, and 10/11's Abby Turpin will be emceeing.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. More than 230,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year alone. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society's nationwide walk that occurs every year in effort to raise funds to fight this dreadful disease, and to educate the public on how to stay well. They provide information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.
Organizers tell us that, last year, the Lincoln walk raised $286,000. Their goal this year is $300,000.
